Pundits and punters, football lovers and the neutrals, old and young all believed...
this will be another three points, another roller-coaster in the park for Manchester United, and why shouldn't they have thought so? Up until the International break, Jose Mourinho's men were the best team in the land and hadn't conceded in three games, securing three wins out of three.
But on Saturday, Man U, encountered an unlikely nemesis- new Stoke City signing, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who scored twice as Stoke ended Manchester United's 100% start to the new Premier League season.
It was the first goal Man U. had conceded in 535 minutes of Premier league football, a run stretching back to last season, but Man U equalized less than three minutes later after Paul Pogba headed towards goal from a corner and a slight deflection off the back of Marcus Rashford's head.
Summer signing, Romelu Lukaku, scored for his team shortly after half time but Choupo-Moting, who gave Phil Jones a torrid, hurricane-style time, levelled in the 63rd minute, heading in Xherdan Shaqiri's corner at the back post unchallenged.
Lukaku, towards the end, wasted an excellent chance in the 81st minute when he fired over from Anthony Martial's smart cross after losing his marker eight yards out.
Jack Butland and David de Gea both produced excellent saves to keep their sides in the game, and Jose Mourinho will now know, that with this result, his team must cut their slack if they are to keep a grip of their position at the top of the table. Man U still lead at the top of the league... for another 7 days though!!
