Papilo FC head coach, Obinna Uzoho has said his side are gradually and steadily getting the rhythm right in the on-going Bet9ja Nigeria National League (NNL).
The newcomers piped Unicem Rovers 1-0 in Saturday’s Bet9ja NNL matchday 15 clash at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
Outside left, Uchenna Shedrack Njoku scored the match winner to hand his side the crucial three points at stake.
Uzoho said the rookies who were standouts in their last clash home win against My People FC once again proved their worth in the clash.
“I can tell you comfortably that we are gradually and steadily getting it right in the on-going league.
“The back to back victories are quite sweet and the new boys have once again justified the hard core decision to hand them a starting shirt.
“I’m happy with the result as well as the improved performance of the player in today’s (Saturday) game.
“We need more of this performance and result as we desperately need to further improve on our fortune on the log.
“Unicem Rovers are good side and tough but they wasted valuable time feigning injuries but only woke up to a meaningful fight after we scored our goal.
“Although we proved the better side we are not yet there as there is room for further improvement.
“I need to work on our finishing as we created several chances than we were able to convert which is not good in a competitive league as ours.
“Of course, today’s victory will not be one off thing we will fight hard to maintain the momentum in other matches to ensure we get to the safety point,” said Uzoho to supersport.com.
The win against the Calabar outfit takes Papilo FC points haul to 15 from possible 45 in the 15-week old Nigeria’s second tier league.
